How quickly does a customer get your quote?
Some enquiries never get a quote at all, and you cannot win work you never price.
We rework how you quote so enquiries stop waiting, without another estimator on the payroll.
Where quoting gets stuck
- The enquiry form asks thirteen questions about plot, planning and warrant, and will not take the drawings that answer most of them.
- Estimating is one manager and one trainee, however busy it gets.
- A self-build enquiry waits while a developer enquiry jumps it, or the other way round, and nobody decided that.
Each of these comes down to who does what, and in what order.
How much of your work is waiting on a quote?
Use last month, roughly. Each box starts with an example figure of ours, including the turnaround. Change them to your own. The only standard here is the one you set.
Most systems record that a quote went out. Few record how long it took.

Our study
We checked the enquiry pages of 100 UK made-to-order manufacturers against six things a customer sees before getting in touch, such as whether the form takes a drawing and whether a quote turnaround is published. The 10 timber frame and modular firms scored between 3 and 8 out of 10, with the middle one on 5. Ten firms is too few to speak for the whole trade.
